Easily Breathe New Life Into an Old Wooden Farm Table and Metal Bistro Chairs
More proof of my husband’s affinity for Facebook Marketplace are the rustic wooden farm table and metal bistro chairs now on our back yard patio.
Dennis has always loved outdoor Italian Villa-style decor. He’s always longed for a big, rustic wooden table to have long, relaxing dinners outside. Imagine how happy he was when he found just that on Facebook Marketplace a short drive away in Napa! Along with the table were 8 metal bistro chairs that needed a lot of TLC. They were structurally sound but covered in dust and rust.

He wanted to do minimal work to the table, so he sanded the top to remove some of the damage and put on some sealant to protect it from the elements.

The chairs were another story. We hosed them down and removed as much gunk as possible. Then, we used a magical product by Rust-Oleum American Accents called 2X Ultra Cover Paint + Primer Gloss spray paint.

It took a bit of practice to get an even coat but if you keep a steady hand and keep moving, it’s pretty easy to get a nice, even, glossy coat.

Wow – what a difference! The chairs looked brand new. According to the can, this spray paint works on metal, plastic, and wood. The possibilities are endless…plus there is a rainbow of colors to choose from. We used “Seaside” and there’s a link at the bottom of this post to check it out yourself.
I think the vibrant blue color goes well with the wood table. It comfortably fits 8 people and it’s easily become one of our favorite spots to hang out when the weather is great.
